FIVE EASY STEPS
FIRSTThe first thing to do is to focus on the user's needs. This step will have you interact directly with the user. Through direct observation and qualitative data gotten directly from interviews. Your questions need to lead them into having them tell you stories with which they really identify. And try to immerse yourself in it. This step will be fulfilled with the following type of questions: ask neutral questions. Avoid yes or no questions along with the use the word "usually". Pay your fully attention to what they're saying not to miss anything they say as long with any non verbal hint that can lead you to inconsistencies. You can also back up yourself with a recording resource.
FOURTHThis steps converts your ideas into reality, but this sketch you're doing isn't the one you're building yet. You need to make a first sketch, a rough one. Give it to a classmate to evaluate it and tell him/her to give you feedback. You need to make adjustments based to their feedback, and doing so is what will get you your final prototype. Once you have done your final sketch is time to make it real and build it. It isn't as hard as you may think!

SECONDThe following step uses the information gotten in step 1; you need to make a deep analysis of the data and figure out what the real problem is, based on repetitive answers and research results.
FIFTHYou've done your first prototype and now you have to test it. This step enables us to learn the quality of our ideas. With the new feedback of our product we're going to ideate new solutions as long with new modifications on our prototype. This prototypes are made rapidly and don't cost much until you get to "perfection" and then you will have your final product. Before getting to it you will be engaged to a constant process of prototyping, testing and ideating.

THIRDYou've already identified what is the real problem with your product. Now it's time to brainstorm all possible solutions that hadn't been ideated yet in order to solve the problem and make the product better. My suggestion would be to grab a sheet of paper and start writing down all you can think of. You never know which idea can be the best of them all.
